Tips For Wearing Makeup At The Beach!

We've all been there before: you have your favorite one-piece swimsuit or bikini set on, maybe a unique beach cover up on top, and almost ready to go out to the beach or a pool party, but you're stressed out about the amount of makeup you're wearing. You don't want to wear too much and look like a melting cake-face, but you still want to cover up certain spots or add a nice, refreshed glow! Worry no more: makeup artist Eleonora Sacks, also known as @makeupbyele gives us some tips for wearing makeup at the beach, boosting your confidence without it melting off!

Sunscreen Is A MUST

Right after applying your favorite moisturizer, go ahead and apply a generous coat of sunscreen that will protect your skin from UVB and UVA rays, avoiding damage that can age your skin and cause wrinkles in the long run. There are many face sunscreens that are tinted, which are perfect for the beach since they add some coverage to any spots you might want to cover up! Make sure to reapply sunscreen during the day as well. Same goes for your body--even if you're wearing one of our beach cover ups you still need protection!

Less Is More

In makeup, a little goes a long way. Ele recommends using a high coverage concealer, like Tarte's Shape Tape, or your favorite foundation (make sure it's long lasting!) in the same shade as your face to cover any spots like pimples or undereye bags.

Ready, Set, Go!

Remember to SET your face! Using a translucent powder (Ele's favorite is Laura Mercier's Translucent Powder), set the spots that you covered with the concealer using a fluffy brush. This will avoid it melting off and makes sure that it will last longer! After completing your makeup look, make sure to use a setting spray to lock it all in, Ele also recommends Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray.

Glow, Baby, Glow

Looking glowy and refreshed while at the beach is a must. To get your glow on, use liquid highlighters which add a glowy touch and look natural at the same time. They're also easier to blend and apply! Ele loves Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid.

Embrace Your Natural Beauty

It's easier said than done, but this is the most important step to looking confident. Embrace your imperfections, they're what makes you, YOU! We always get asked about what to wear on a beach vacation, and our most sincere answer is confidence, whether you get it from an amazing bikini set, unique one piece swimsuits, bathing suit cover ups, beach wear jewelry and accessories, or makeup!
