Since we're all spending more time at home, it's tempting to lounge in your pajamas and have your dirty hair in a bun all day, we get it! However, we want to show you that you can use this time to practice some self-care, whether that's putting on one of your favorite Cristalina bikini sets and trying to tan on your balcony, getting yourself one of our new out-of-this-world activewear sets to motivate you to stay active during your quarantine or finding ways to feel prettier for yourself by doing your makeup or taking some extra care of your hair. On that last note, we rounded up 5 of our favorite hair treatments to get shiny, silky hair at home:
1. A Sweet Solution:
This mask is ideal for those with messy, tangled wavy or curly hair. Mix a half-cup of molasses or maple syrup, 1/4 cup of olive oil, 4 tablespoons of honey, two bananas, half a cup of water, 4 tablespoons of lemon juice, and 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour (adjust according to desired thickness).
After mixing all ingredients, make sure to remove any lumps, and warm over the stovetop. Separate hair into four sections, evenly apply the sweet mixture, and cover it up with a shower cap; let sit for 45 minutes and rinse thoroughly. The result: soft, manageable hair!
2. Removing Buildup:
Is your hair feeling a little dull? It might be the buildup of past product residue that's causing it. Combine 1/3 cup of your favorite shampoo with 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda, stir well and pour over wet hair. Gently massage the mixture into the scalp and let sit for a few minutes before rinsing thoroughly.
3. Flake No More:
If your scalp is flaking out, it might be due to stress (which is affecting all of us as of late). A quick fix: in a small bowl, combine 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 1 teaspoon of honey, 3 drops of rosemary oil and 3 drops of lavender oil. Mix well and apply onto clean, damp hair. Massage into your scalp, place a shower cap on your hair and allow to sit for up to an hour. The essential oils and honey will help with the inflammation and the other ingredients will guarantee a silky, smooth outcome.
4. Disappear The Dryness:
Dry hair is NOT a cute look! Nurture it and keep it healthy with this easy mask: mix 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 egg and 1 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar. You can double or half the recipe, depending on your hair’s length. Leave it on for 30 to 40 minutes before rinsing. You'll end up with soft, nourished locks!
5. Let It Grow:
There's no overnight miracle recipe for long hair, but masks like this one have shown to help in hair growth and length! It's easy, too: mix equal parts cinnamon and coconut oil. Apply the mask onto your roots and part, and massage into your scalp. Let it sit for 30 to 45 minutes and rinse. Aim to do this mask at least once a week for better results!
